PANAJI: Goa Olympic Association (GOA), as part of its Olympics awareness campaign on the sidelines of Tokyo 2020, has been felicitating eminent sports personalities from different sports disciplines.
On Thursday, it was the turn of the personalities from Fencing and Hockey, to be felicitated in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
At Agakhan Park in Margao, prominent hockey players Lino D’Souza, Nobert Fernandes, Francis Rebello, Joaquina Mascarenhas and Clifford Fernandes were felicitated. Deepaksingh Rajput, Arunkumar Saine, Rohan Bhandari, Abhishek Naik and Nikita Nagraj Gowda were the fencers felicitated at KTC Bus-stand in Panaji.
Xavier Marquis, President, Goans Hockey, along with Benny Viegas, the Association’s secretary, graced the South Goa event. Arjuna Awardee ex-India football team captain Bruno Coutinho, SAG’s joint-director of coaching, along with Goa Fencing Association officials Yogesh Thakur (President) and Anagha Warlikar (Secretary), graced the North Goa awareness programme; informed a press release issued by GOA media coordinator Sandeep Heble.
