PANAJI: Ponda-based sociocultural organisation Antruz Ghudyo has provided help to the flood-hit residents of Sattari taluka and appealed to the society to assist the rebuilding and rehabilitation in the area.

Antruz Ghudyo revealed that the pandemic times had halted their usual activities resulting in monetary savings. They came up with the decision to utilise the funds and contributions by their members to help the flood victims.

“Except for online programmes, we as a cultural group were not able to organise any of our regular activities. Thus, there was a corpus fund which remained with us. So we decided to utilise the same along with our members’ contributions to this noble cause,” said a statement by Antruz Ghudyo.

Earlier this month, many parts of Goa saw one of the worst floods in its history. “Many people have got affected and desperately need attention and help. To reach out to such people, our members visited the flood-affected areas in Ganje and Valpoi and distributed financial assistance,” added the statement.

“We hope this little contribution of ours will help them get back to their life soon. We also hope that more people come forward to help the people in these areas.”
