PANAJI: Natasha Sharma from Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao; secured a bronze medal at the recently-held Triathlon National Championships in Udaipur.

Natasha participated in the ‘Sprint Distance’ event consisting of a 750m swim in the Fateh Sagar Lake, 20km cycling and 5km run. The Goan triathlete finished the task in 1 hour, 25 minutes to secure the third position in the 18-35 years ‘Sprint’ category.

Goa team-member Harichandra Shambu Velip (Drishti Lifesaving Pvt. Ltd) finished 8th in the 18-35 years men’s sprint distance category. Zaid Arshad Baig, who was in a good position initially, suffered a tyre puncture and hence lost out on time to others in the same event, yet managed to finish 12th. The fourth and final team-member Ruhi Harish Peshwe made her debut in triathlon nationals, putting up a very strong and promising performance.

The team is being coached by Goa Triathlon Association coaches Indrajeet Khadilkar and Agnelo Desa. Before going to Udaipur, a coaching camp was held from 15th August – 5th September. Swimming sessions were conducted at ICG Bambolim; cycling and run training were also undertaken, stated a press release.
