Village Panchayat Usgao and Shiroda panchayat area have been declared TB-free, under the ‘TB Mukt Panchayat’ initiative, announced Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
“We empower Panchayats to take proactive measures. In Goa, we provide free diagnostic tests, treatment services, and nutritional support to TB patients. Numerous patients have benefited from Direct Benefit Transfers under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana and nutritional kits have been distributed by Nikshay Mitras. We remain committed to making Goa TB-free,” emphasised the Health Minister.
Meanwhile, the TB Mukt Panchayats, Video & Reel Making Competition winners were awarded on Sunday. As part of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the event aimed to create awareness about the ongoing health care required to end TB by 2025 at Panaji. The programme was organised by Directorate of Health Services and Entertainment Society of Goa.
Brand ambassadors – Varsha Usgaonkar and John D’Silva; Director of Health Services, Dr. Vandana Dhume were present among others.
Rane hailed the power of visual media to create a lasting impression, stating: “Their videos not only emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment but also showcased the collective efforts under the ‘TB Mukt Panchayat’ initiative, where local Panchayats like Usgao and Shiroda have already been declared TB-free.
“This competition reflects how, through innovation and community engagement, Goa is making remarkable strides in its goal to become TB-free. We are committed to this cause and remain determined to eliminate TB from Goa, one step closer with every effort.”
