PANAJI: ‘Covaxin’ phase-3 trials have begun in Goa with Dr Shekhar Salkar being the first volunteer to undergo vaccination at Redkar Hospital-Dhargal, Pernem today. This vaccine is jointly developed by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Bharat Biotech. CROM Clinical Research company is managing the trials at Redkar Hospital.
Out of a required total of 25,500 volunteers across the country, Goa needs to provide 1500. Former IMA-Goa chief, Dr Salkar appealed to Goans to come forward for vaccination. He thanked Dr Sagar Redkar, who is the principle investigator of this trial in Goa, Dr Lad and Dr Dubhashi of Crom.
