WEST BENGAL’S KAUSTUV KONDU WINS TTCA ALL-INDIA OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT

Kaustuv Kondu of West Bengal won the 3rd TTCA All-India Open Rating Chess Tournament organised by Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa State Chess Ad-hoc Committee, AICF and in collaboration with IMB.

Kaustuv scored 8 points and remained undefeated in the tournament with 7 wins and 2 draws. He beat Kishor Kumar Jagannathan of Tamil Nadu in the final round, and bagged Rs 55,000 along with the Winner’s Trophy.

Prasanna S of Tamil Nadu and Arpan Das of West Bengal scored equal 7.5 points but due to a better tie-break score, Prasanna emerged runners-up. He received Rs 40,000 and a trophy while Arpan finished third and collected Rs 25,000 and a trophy.

Players from 4th to 9th place – scored 7 points each, but on tie-break Sharsha Backer, Roneet Das, Kishore Kumar Jaganathan, IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam, Anilkumar O T, Joy Lazar finished 4th to 9th respectively. For the 10th to 24th positions, players scored equal 6.5 points. Their final placements on tie-break are – Chandar Raju, FM Sauravh Kherdeakar, Maheshwaran P, Marthandan K U, IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni, Hemanth Ram, Ayush Pednekar, Guru Prakash, Pranav K P, Vivaan Ballikar, Atharv Nitin Narayan, Aadithya Pradeep, Ajay Parvathareddy, Aryan Raikar, Sanjay Thakurel (10th to 24th respectively). The 25th to 30th places went to: Raghav V, Sandeep Santosh, Niraj Saripalli, Lavyaajyoti Routray, Aayush Shirodakar and Anshul Mehta.
