WILDLIFE HABITAT GARDEN & MODERN HI-TECH NURSERY INAUGURATED IN PANAJI

Children will now get more opportunities to learn various aspects of Biodiversity and nursery techniques in a practical manner as a Wildlife Habitat Garden and a Modern HI-tech Nursery has been set up by the Goa Forest Department at Campal, Panaji.

Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane inaugurated the facilities today in the presence of PCCF Rajiv Kumar Gupta, CWLW Umakanth, MD GFDC, Saurabh Kumar, DCF Jabestin A, IFS, DCF Jiss Varkey, IFS, DCF Nabanita Ganguly, IFS, DCF Tejaswini Pusuluri, IFS and other forest officials.

The hi-tech nursery includes the latest techniques like Green House, Mist Chambers, Poly houses, Vermicompost, Organic Manure units, and other required nursery equipment.

“Goa Forest is taking various steps to encourage and motivate the people of Goa for plantation on their private land to further enhance the tree cover outside the forest area.

“Quality Planting Saplings will be raised in this modern nursery for plantation in and outside forest areas. Good quality saplings of ornamental, medicinal, horticulture, and forestry species will be available to the public at a nominal rate. Arrangements have also been made by the Goa Forest to impart basic knowledge about various nursery techniques to our children. The Module includes a technical session followed by a field exercise in which children will prepare planting material, and nursery beds, and will sow seeds in bags. This whole exercise will give the children first-hand experience,” tweeted Vishwajit.

Meanwhile the ‘Wildlife Habitat Garden’ is a natural home of plants and animals. This unique open-air garden which displays relevant information about wildlife habitats will provide an excellent opportunity, especially for children to inculcate knowledge on various aspects of wildlife including its vulnerability status, and will sensitise them to the protection and conservation of our incredible faunal Biodiversity.

Forest Minister, Vishwajit Rane also inaugurated the Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC) and other Eco-tourism infrastructures created by Goa Forest Department at Netravali-Sanguem in the presence of the Minister for Social Welfare, Subhash Phal Dessai; MLA Poriem, Dr. Deviya Rane; PCCF, Rajiv Gupta, IFS; CWLW, Umakant, IFS; MD GFDC, Saurabh Kumar and other Forest officials.
