WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY: LOKVISHWAS PRATISHTHAN HOSTS ‘SPECIAL’ FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

Lokvishwas Pratishthan’s Special School Dhavali-Ponda, organised a fancy dress competition for children with ‘Down Syndrome’ and their parents on the theme Indian folk culture on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March 2023.

The competition was held in 2 categories one below the age of 12 years and other in the age group of 12-18years. Jayendranath Haldankar and Mamta Hussain were the judges. The competition was hosted by Dr. Gauri Kamat Wagh and Madan Tari. A total of 14 special schools across the state of Goa participated in the competition. The prize distribution ceremony was held on the same day. Prakash Kamat was the chief guest of the function and Altaf Asees was the guest of honour.

The winners in under-12 years (Group A) are as follows:
1.  Sudiksha Tari and Shruti Tari from New Dawn Ashadeep special school, Vasco
2.  Prayash Tari and Padmaja Tari from St. Xavier’s Academy School for specially abled children, Old Goa
3. Swara Chodankar and Mohini Honawarkar from Lokvishwas Pratishthan’s special school Dhavali-Ponda

Winners of 12 to 18years (Group B):
1. Ashish Hanamshet and Sneha Hanamshet from New Dawn Ashadeep special school ,Vasco
2. Givesh Velingkar and Jagdish Velingkar from Lokvishwas Pratishthan’s special school, Dhavali- Ponda
3.  Abhinav Pal and Sheela Pal from Aastha’s Anand Niketan school, Mapusa.
