YMCA Ravaging Knights emerged the champions at the inaugural 3×3 Basketball Tournament organised by Ponda Basketball Club at Shree Mahalaxmi English School’s Basketball court, Talaulim.
The two-day tournament conducted on 24th and 25th February, produced thrilling contests on the court and drew allround applause for the organisers for puttung up one of the best 3×3 basketball championships in Goa.
YMCA Incredible Knights emerged runners-up while Sonics Porvorim secured the third place.
In all 11 teams divided into two groups, featured in the league stage to begin with. The top two teams progressed from the respective groups, into the the Final League.
Sticking to their top billing the YMCA Knights teams dominated the tournament from the very first game. In the top-of-the-table clash, YMCA Ravaging Knights led by Mangesh Pawar got the better of YMCA Incredible Knights 19-17 in the hotly-contested title clash. Sonics Porvorim, who lost to YMCA Knights, clinched the third position.
Vishwanath Sawant was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Madanant Verenkar and Abdul Kader were Guests of Honour.
Meanwhile on the occasion, Ponda Basketball Club also felicitated the Goa Netball Team players along with head coach Sandeep Shetkar for their silver medal-finish at the 37th National Games held last year in Goa.
