Goa Unit of the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) is hosting its annual Monsoon Trekking Expedition in the Sattari Taluka, where one can witness some of Goa’s most beautiful waterfalls and enchanting forests.

Trekkers and nature enthusiasts from all over India have been enjoying the outings since the beginning of this month and the programme continues till 10th August.

All these waterfalls are inside the forested Mhadei wildlife sanctuary in North Goa. Goa‘s Western Ghats are the repository of biological wealth. The rich biodiversity of the area provides an exciting and enthralling experience to all adventure and nature-lovers. The Moshacho Ozar is in Hivre of Thane Dongurli village Panchayat. During monsoon, one can get a panoramic view of the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary.

The two waterfalls in Pali provides a breathtaking view of the lush green forest along with the gushing flow of the river. Shelop – Budruk is blessed by four waterfalls which exhibit the identity through their flow. However, the last one offers a marvelous sight of the waterfall.

Though waterfalls from Saleli are small, they provide most soothing experience of the lush green facet of Goa.

The breathtaking waterfall of Charwane takes a bit of steep climb after venturing one’s way through a dense forest area with a dash of village walk on the way, to start with.

The base camp at Thane-Dongurli witnesses a ‘mini-India’ with all YHAI members mingling to share the stories ranging form national integration, changes in nature’s patterns and suggestions to share the responsibility for conservation.

Catching up with the visitors to Goa, www.Livenewsgoa.com got to know how this eco-tourism potential of the State has been under wraps so far with many of them being pleasantly surprised to experience the rich nature and abundance of biodiversity in the State, which has been superficially labelled as a party hub in general. “When I post glimpses of this expedition on social media, my friends ask me whether this spectacle exists in Goa,” says Samhita, a Computer Science student from Karnataka.

Rekha Singh from Nagaland also shared her joy, at discovering the ‘hidden’ Goa. This is the story of Goa that should be told, was her remark.

A senior member of YHAI for over 30 years, Bhati from Rajasthan sounded a note of caution for those forcing haphazard development by toying with the ‘supreme’ nature. Citing the tragedies unfolding in the monsoon across the country, he lamented the loss of lives and public properties of thousands of crores.

Going to the core and promoting the basic fabric, would easily see Goa standout as a destination which is multi-dimensional and attract quality tourists who have various callings of their own. Definitely the way ahead…
