The 4-Lane Bypass Road built at a cost of Rs. 83.70 Crore on SH 1, Bicholim, will not only ease congestion on the key city route but will also help commuters from Dharbandora travel easily to Manohar International airport-Mopa, stated the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant while dedicating the latest piece of infrastructure to the people of Goa, in the presence of MLAs – Dr. Chandrakant Shetye and Premendra Shet, among others.
The Chief Minister also claimed that the concrete road has been completed in record time with its quality being such that no cost will be incurred on its maintenance for next 25 years. Moreover, the industrial vehicles that were travelling via the main city road and proving to be an obstruction to the market-goers as well as school students, will now take the high-speed Bypass Road to reach industrial estates across Bicholim, Pissurlem and Ponda; added Dr Sawant.
“This road will not just help people of Sankhali and Valpoi but also those from Sanvordem and Dharbandora as they can travel faster to Mopa airport via this route instead of taking the congested Ponda road,” said Dr Sawant, who also thanked those land-owners who accepted the compensation while giving their land for the road project.
