PANAJI: Jwngshar Basumatary is a 19-year-old talent from the Cinematography & Editing field, here at the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being recognised as one of the winners at ’75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’ as part of the commemoration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Basumatary’s film ‘The Football Portrait’ is a brilliant short film of less than five-minute duration shot on a smart phone, and the substance of the subject focusses on football-crazy Dhritish Kayshap’s passion for the sport with his strong desire to improve every day despite knowing that his parents would like him to take up a job based on his academic acumen.
“Do what you love, and what you are passionate about – is the message I have given from this film,” Basumatary told www.livenewsgoa.com.
When asked how he feels about being labelled as one of the representatives of next-generation Indian cinema as part of the ’75 Creative Minds’ initiative of Information & Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur; Basumatary said: “I am really happy with the opportunity to come here. I am motivated by the professionals here and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I feel like it is dream-come-true moment. I will be thankful for life as it’s a big deal for me, being from a small town! My parents are proud… I am inspired to continue my passion for films. I am very thankful to the organisers.”
Basumatary, who hails from Bodoland-Assam, pursues Instrumentation course from the Central Institute of Technology-Kokrajhar.
