GOA’S LEON MENDONCA WINS HIT OPEN 2023 IN SLOVENIA

Geno Pharmaceuticals and Microsense brand ambassador Grandmaster Leon Luke Mendonca won the 27th Hit Open 2023 tournament organised by chess club Nova Gorica in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The tournament was held from 16th to 23rd March 2023.

Leon defeated 5 GMs, 1 IM, 2 FMs and 1 CM to finish with a perfect 9 out of 9 rounds. A total of 84 players including 10 GMs, 1 IM & 11 FMs took part in the A group event, from across 13 countries.

Leon performed at an incredible 3196 rating performance thereby gaining 26.40 Elo rating points and inching closer to the 2600 Elo rating mark.

This is Leon’s second consecutive tournament triumph of the month where he remained undefeated after winning the 38th ChessOrg Festival in Bad Woerishofen, Germany on 11th March 2023.
