St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, has secured third place in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Tennis Championship for the third consecutive year, marking a remarkable achievement despite limited facilities.
The college has achieved this success without a dedicated tennis court or easy access to practice facilities. It has been observed in Goa that most students begin learning tennis from scratch after joining the college. For the past five years, they have practised on the tarred parking lot at Chicalim Church, demonstrating great dedication and perseverance.
This achievement is the result of the consistent support of then College Administrator, Vice-Principal and the late Fr. Bolmax Pereira, along with the commitment and sacrifices of the students.
The guidance and coaching provided by the College Director of Physical Education and Sports and the Instructor in Physical Education have also played a vital role in this success.
The college’s achievement stands as an inspiring example of how determination, teamwork and the right guidance can overcome limitations and lead to success.
