Goa’s Mekan Rodrigues and Iqtefa Sheikh won a bronze medal each at 40th National Junior Kyorugi Taekwondo Championships held from 7th to 9th July 2023 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Shimoga, Karnataka.
The Goan Team comprising 9 boys and 8 girls, put in their best efforts against the top young athletes from across the country.
Mekan showcased his exceptional skills and clinched the Bronze Medal in the over 78kg weight category.
Iqtefa Sheikh also displayed her talent, securing the Bronze Medal in the under-59kg weight category.
Coaches – Deepak Rivonkar, Elizabeth Luis, and Pandurang Chavan accompanied the team.
President of the Taekwondo Association of Goa, Navin Pai Raikar hailed the achievement while the governing body of the sport in the State emphasised its commitment to supporting and nurturing the development of Taekwondo with the aim of achieving even greater heights in the future.
