Health and Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane has revealed that the upcoming 9th anniversary of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign will be one of the biggest sanitation drives in Goa.
Rane held meeting with the directors and HODs from Health Services, Urban Development, GMC, and WCD, to plan the event in commemoration of the 9th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat initiative.
“The goal is to make this campaign a significant endeavor, aiming to be one of the biggest sanitation drives in Goa. These departments play a crucial role and involve the public. Ensuring the effective implementation of Swachh Bharat initiatives is of utmost importance. This initiative is driven by accelerating efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage, improve cleanliness standards, and eliminate open defecation in India, contributing to the nation’s progress,” stated Rane in one of his post on X.
Rane also disclosed deliberations on Dengue awareness. “Another crucial highlight of the discussion was increasing awareness about dengue, conducting regular platelet monitoring through testing, implementing source reduction efforts led by the DHS, improving sanitation, carrying out fumigation, and exploring various strategies to effectively reduce the number of dengue cases in the state,” he added.
In another post, Rane shared his delight over successful arrangement and transportation of the mortal remains of donor bodies to their respective villages.
“The Goa Medical College, led by Dean Prof. Dr. Bandekar, has successfully arranged and funded the transportation of the mortal remains of donor bodies to their respective villages, even for outsiders, with the farthest destination being Azamgarh Varanasi. Goa Medical College conducted all four organ retrieval surgeries, impressing retrieval teams from corporate hospitals. The GMC staff and patients deeply respect organ donors and their families for their courageous decision to say yes to organ donation. The Goa Government College’s commitment to honoring donors by ensuring their final rites reach their homes, regardless of state boundaries, deserves acknowledgment and appreciation. Let us spread a word about organ donation, and help save lives,” posted Rane on X.
