Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) has undertaken a significant advancement in the development of Panaji’s infrastructure. The deployment of a state-of-the-art milling machine marks a crucial step towards ensuring well aligned and smoother road networks and bolstering the city’s overall connectivity, states a press release.
The issue of uneven levels of the roads vis a vis level of pavements and building entrances was a major issue IPSCDL was grappling with. Multiple grievances were being voiced by residents as well as commercial establishments in Panaji.
IPSCDL had stopped bitumen laying along all roads under progress till this issue was finalised. The Hon High Court was also informed that a solution would be found before finalising the road surfaces. With road milling machines being strategically deployed across various roads in Central Panaji after the arrival of the machines on Saturday morning from Bangalore, the road level issue vis a vis pavements is poised to be addressed.
The road milling machine was pressed into operation on Cunha Rivara road. In the next couple of days the machines will focus on areas requiring immediate attention. This advanced technology operates with precision and efficiency, utilizing a large rotating drum equipped with tool holders to meticulously remove and grind the road surface, ensuring a pre-determined road level and smooth finish.
“This innovative approach to road maintenance signifies our commitment to enhancing safety and convenience for all road users,” says a top official of IPSCDL . “By addressing issues such as uneven levels of roads and creating universal pavements, we aim to create a more sustainable and enjoyable urban environment for residents and visitors alike.”
Milling machines, also known as cold milling machines, are capable of excavating and grinding the bitumen road surface. This process removes distresses from the surface, providing a better driving experience and extending the roadway’s lifespan. Common issues such as ravelling and bleeding are effectively mitigated through the precision of milling technology.
The deployment of the milling machine underscores IPSCDL’s dedication to leveraging cutting-edge solutions for the development and maintenance of Panaji’s infrastructure. As the city continues to evolve into a smarter and more sustainable urban centre, initiatives like these play a pivotal role in shaping its future.
