SAL BARRAGE PROJECT: PROGRESS AT SATISFACTORY PACE WITH HIGH-QUALITY STANDARDS, SAYS CHIEF MINISTER AFTER INSPECTION

The work on the Sal Barrage project is progressing at a satisfactory pace with high-quality standards, revealed Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant after an inspection visit.

Sal Barrage project is being executed at a cost of Rs. 281 crore, and the Amtane Minor Irrigation Tank & Raw Water Pumping Station project, is costing Rs 20 crore.

WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, and Chief Engineer Pramod Badami were also present for the inspection.

“The Sal Barrage project, which lifts 250 MLD of water, plays a crucial role in supplying water to treatment plants at Assonora, Pilerne, Guirim, Chandel, and Mopa, benefiting Bardez, Pernem, and Bicholim talukas. The work is progressing at a satisfactory pace with high-quality standards.

“The Amtane project, upon completion, will enhance water supply to Latambarsem and Assonora, further supporting the region’s needs,” elaborated the Chief Minister.

Asserting the government’s vision, Dr Sawant stated: “We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring uninterrupted drinking and irrigation water supply to areas benefitting from the Tilari Project and other regions in North Goa, meeting current and future demands efficiently.”
