ICAR-CCARI ORGANISES ‘VIKSIT KRISHI SANKALP ABHIYAN’ AT SHIRODA

As part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) initiative by ICAR, a programme was organised in Shiroda. The event, conducted by ICAR-CCARI, witnessed the participation of over 400 local farmers. The programme was chaired by Subhash Shirodkar, Minister for Water Resources Development, Co-operation, and Provedoria, Government of Goa.

In his address, Shirodkar encouraged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies developed by ICAR to increase production. He also urged them to bring all fallow land back under cultivation to help make Goa greener.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, highlighted the current scenario of Indian and Goan agriculture. He urged farmers to enhance the productivity of vegetables and coconuts in the state by adopting the latest technologies available at ICAR.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manohara K.K., Nodal Officer for VKSA of ICAR-CCARI, Goa, briefed farmers about the new salt-tolerant paddy varieties developed at ICAR-CCARI, Goa, and emphasised the importance of using quality seeds and planting materials to boost production.

As part of the programme, seeds of improved paddy varieties and planting materials of cashew, mango, and coconut developed by ICAR-CCARI were distributed to the farmers.
