The Goa Professional League: Relegation League came to a dramatic close, with the final day delivering the decisive verdicts that the relegation battle had been building towards all season.
Churchill Brothers FC Goa, eight-time GPL champions and one of Goa football’s most decorated clubs, were unable to secure the result they needed on the final day.
Held to a goalless draw, they finished 13th on 20 points just short of the safety threshold and will compete in the GFA First Division next season. Guardian Angel SC, who had already been confirmed for relegation prior to the final matchday, finished 14th with 19 points.
Pax of Nagoa SC produced the most emphatic statement of the final day, defeating Goa Police SC 5-0 in a commanding display that left no doubt about their right to remain in the GPL. Goals from Ajay Raj, Cliver Fernandes, Adarsh Raj, Shubert Pereira and Edward Souza sealed a comprehensive victory that lifted Pax to 25 points and 10th place in the final standings.
Elsewhere, Vasco SC and Cortalim Villagers played out a goalless draw, with both sides finishing on 23 points to secure 11th and 12th place respectively and retain their GPL status for the season ahead. Bidesh XI SC, as a direct entry side, were granted relegation immunity and will also feature in next season’s competition.
