Bibhishan Chandroji emerged as the champion of the 2nd State Level Visually Impaired Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by the Blind Cricket Association Goa in collaboration with the Lions Club of Mapuca, at Adamo The Bellus Hotel, Calangute.
Bibhishan delivered an outstanding performance, remaining undefeated throughout the five rounds of the tournament held on 6th and 7th June 2026. Sandeep Padwalkar finished runner-up, while Bhosale Brijesh claimed the third position.
The players finishing from fourth to seventh place, were Mohammad Ayaan Bombaykar, Prashant Kadam, Harsh Dhargalkar, and Muskan Dodamani respectively. The award for ‘Best Woman Player’ was won by Viona Pereira.
A total of 16 visually-impaired chess players from across Goa participated in the tournament, showcasing remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Lion Raies Ahmed Hakim, LCIF Coordinator, Lions International District 317B; MJF Lion Murtaza Matherianwala, Proprietor, Adamo The Bellus Hotel, Calangute; MJF Lion Vishwasrao Nagvekar, Secretary, Blind Cricket Association Goa; IA Sanjay Kavlekar, Chief Arbiter and SAG Chess Coach; MJF Lion Goculdas Nagvenkar, District Chairperson – Sports Promotion, Lions Club of Mapuca and Lions District 317B; FA Tanishq Kavlekar, Deputy Chief Arbiter; and Yeshwant Nageshkar, Treasurer, Blind Cricket Association Goa.
