MANGIRISH YOUTH CLUB ALL-GOA U19 CHESS: JOSHUA TELLES & ASMI TERSE START WITH WIN

Joshua Telles and Asmi Terse began with a victory as All-Goa U19 State Selection Tournament commenced at Mangeshi.

The tournament has been organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) in collaboration with Mangirish Youth Club (MYC), under  auspices  of  Goa  Chess  Association  and  Sports  Authority of  Goa. In all, 160 players are participating in this tournament. 

Damodar Naik, President of Mangirish Youth Club, Chief arbiter Arvind Mhamal, Ratnakar Pai, Treasurer, MYC, Bhavesh Gaude, Executive Member, MYC, Sagar Sakordekar (President, PTCA), Amogh Namshiker (Secretary, PTCA), Mitasha Aigal (Headmistress, Wagle High School), Sandesh Naik (Treasurer, PTCA), Anand Kurtikar, Anish Naik, Pankaj Chavan, Milind Gaude  and  Wilson Cruz were present.

Top board results of Round 1:
U19 open – Joshua Telles won against Chinmay Gaude, Rajveer Patil won against Digvijay Gaude, Mayuresh Desai won against Jatin Gaude.

U19 girls: Asmi Terse won against Avni Bhat, Vaishnavi Parab won against Sidonia Dacunha, Vania Dukle won against Shravani Gaude.

HEDGEWAR VIDYALAY TOP PONDA TALUKA CHESS

Dr. K.B. Hedgewar Vidyalay won 14th SRS Ponda Taluka School Chess Championship. The tournament was organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) in association with SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi and Wagle High School, Mangeshi.  In all, 22 schools participated in the tournament.

Hedgewar reigned supreme by scoring 9 Match points and 16 Game points. G.V.M.’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir secured 2nd place by scoring 9 Match points and 14.5 Game points.  A. J. de Almeida High School finished 3rd by scoring 8 Match points.  

Swastik Vidyalay, Vidhya Vruddhi school and V.D. & S.V. Wagle High School secured 4th to 6th place respectively.

Trophies and certificates were distributed by Sagar Sakordekar (Founder, Vedic Mathematics Academy and PTCA President), Amogh Namshiker (PTCA Secretary), Anand Kurtikar (Chief Arbiter and PTCA Executive member), Sandesh Naik (Treasurer, PTCA), Pankaj Chavan (Arbiter and Jt. Secretary, PTCA), Mitasha Aigal (Headmistress, Wagle High school) and Milind Gaude (Arbiter).
