The Goa State Under-13 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2026 concluded with spectacular performances from the young chess prodigies. In the Open category, Joshua Telles emerged victorious, securing his title with an impressive score of 7 points from 8 rounds, consisting of 6 wins and 2 draws. In the Girls category, Tvisha Dessai claimed the championship with a commendable score of 6 points from 7 rounds. The tournament witnessed a competitive spirit, with Saras Powar and Alaina Gomes finished second respectively.

Mahesh Candolkar, president of the Goa Chess Association, was the Chief Guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Arvind Mhamal, Chief Arbiter, along with Shiva Angle, Naresh Pednekar, Pallavi Kakodkar, Sushant Shenke, and other distinguished guests. The tournament was sponsored by Dr. Peter Carvalho.
Following this championship, first two players in each category will represent Goa at the National Championship, set to take place in Puducherry in September 2026.
