STATE RANKING BADMINTON: SHAHEEN, SUFIYA POISED FOR TRIPLE CROWNS; ADVAIT, AMAIRA ON COURSE FOR DOUBLE

Shaheen C.K. and Sufiya Shaikh moved within touching distance of a triple crown, while Advait Balakrishnan and Amaira Dhumatker kept their double-title hopes alive with impressive semifinal performances at the All Goa State Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026, the first ranking event of the 2026-27 season, organised by Mapusa Shuttlers under the aegis of the Goa Badminton Association at the Indoor Hall, Peddem.

Joining the race for multiple honours, Aswin Mannambalath, Aarohi Coutoncar, Michael Ryan Mare, Pratik P. Naik Borkar, Komal Kothari and Shivanjali Thite also advanced to two finals each, setting up an exciting finals day with several players in contention for more than one title.

In the Under-13 category, Michael Mare defeated Vedh Lotliker 15-3, 15-2 and Pratik Naik Borkar overcame Shourya Sinari 10-15, 15-12, 15-9 to set up the boys’ singles final, while Amaira Dhumatker and Komal Kothari advanced to the girls’ singles final with victories over Kanika Pai Vernekar and Anvitha Poojari respectively.

Mare and Ayansh Sanke entered the boys’ doubles final, where they will meet Pratik and Varun Sahakari, while Amaira and Komal will face Anvitha Poojari and Ashbah Tahasildar in the girls’ doubles title clash.

In the Under-19 section, Shaheen C.K. defeated Devansh Sakpal 17-15, 15-13 to reach the boys’ singles final against Advait Balakrishnan, who overcame Owais Tahasildar 15-6, 15-8. Shaheen also qualified for the boys’ doubles final alongside Aswin Mannambalath and the mixed doubles final partnering Sufiya Shaikh.

Sufiya booked her place in the girls’ singles final against Shivanjali Thite and teamed up with Shivanjali to enter the girls’ doubles final. Advait also progressed to the boys’ doubles final with Vansh Khedkar, while Aarohi Coutoncar secured berths in both the girls’ doubles with Dimple Revankar and mixed doubles finals, setting the stage for an exciting finals day with several players eyeing multiple crowns.
