Joshua Mark Telles and Asmi Terse won Mangirish Youth Club All Goa U-19 State Chess Selection Tournament in the Open and Girls category respectively. The tournament was organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association in collaboration with Mangirish Youth Club; under the auspices of Goa Chess Association and Sports Authority of Goa, at Wagle High School, Mangeshi.
Saras Powar emerged runner-up and Aaryavrat Desai finished in the 3rd plosition in the Open category. Sai Prabhakaran, Neevaan Mandlekar, Arthav Shirodkar, Rishit Gawas, Mayuresh Desai, Shubh Borkar and Rajveer Patil made up the 4th to 10th places respectively.
In the girls category, Lyia Silveira finished runner-up while Krutika Aggarwal secured the 3rd place. Vaishnavi Parab, Anvi Desai, Aarya Helekar, Alaina Gomes, Israa Rikarty, Avani Sawaikar and Shreesha Ghadi respectively finished in the top-10.
Consolation prizes were awarded to: U15 open: Sarvang Pagi, Sachit Pai, U15 girls: Navya Narvekar, Sayuri Nasnodkar. U13 open: Heramb Gaonkar, Vansh Manerikar, U13 girls: Ishika Naik, Aaradhya Sawant. U11 open: Aryan Naik, Vihaan Tari, U11 girls: Paloma Baretto, Vania Dukle.
U9 open: Prayank Gaonkar, Veer Manerikar, U9 girls: Shivanya Rao, Amaira Borkar. U7 open: Vivaan Kadam, Ivaan Pednekar, U7 girls: Sreeja Ghanekar, Eliaza Barreto. Ponda Taluka players (U19 open): Nagesh Nayak, Sarthak Naik, Raj Kuncolienkar, Avnish Borker and Swayam Naik. Ponda Taluka players (U19 girls): Anaar Prabhu, Kavya Marathe, Mihika Priolkar, Aastha Nayak and Paaviya Naik.
Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa, Dr. Ajay Gaude was the Chief Guest and gave away the prizes. Mahesh Candolkar President of Goa Chess Association; Mitasha Aigal, Headmistress, Wagle High School; Sagar Sakordekar, President, Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Amogh Namshiker, Secretary, Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal, Kunal Mangeshkar, Sports Secretary, Mangirish Youth Club; Mahesh Khedekar, EC member, Ponda Taluka Chess Association; and Sandesh Naik, Treasurer, Ponda Taluka Chess Association, were also present.
