Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant declared open the 57th Goa State Athletics Championships 2026, held in memory of Padma Bhushan Dr. Manohar Parrikar at the Atal Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Thursday.
The three-day championship has been organised by Goa Athletics Association in association with the Sports Authority of Goa, and around 1400 athletes from across the state are competing for the top honours. With the West Zone Athletics Championship to be hosted at the same venue later this year, the participants are keen to put up their best performances to stake their claim for a spot in the Goa team.

Social Welfare Minister, Subhash Phal Dessai, President of Goa Athletics Association and NRI Commissioner, Adv. Narendra Sawaikar were also present on the occasion.
