An Intercollegiate Quiz Competition marking the culmination of World Breastfeeding Week 2026, was jointly organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Goa, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and the Nutrition Society of India at Goa College of Home Science, Campal; on Friday.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 11 teams representing eight colleges across Goa, with students competing in multiple rounds that tested their knowledge on breastfeeding, maternal and child nutrition, public health and related subjects.
Speaking on the occasion, Riyas Babu, Publicity Officer, CBC Goa, highlighted the importance of creating awareness about breastfeeding and maternal nutrition among the younger generation. He said educational institutions play a crucial role in spreading evidence-based information and encouraging informed health practices in society.
Dr Mahesh Pai, Principal of Goa College of Home Science, welcomed the participants, faculty members and organisers, and appreciated the collaborative effort to promote awareness on an important public health issue through an engaging academic competition.
The team from Don Bosco College, Panjim, emerged as the winner of the quiz competition. DCT’s Dhempe College (Autonomous), Miramar, secured the second prize, while Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho, finished third.
The winning teams were presented with mementoes and certificates in recognition of their performance. Certificates of participation were also awarded to all the contestants.
Dr Varsha Naik, Assistant Professor, Goa College of Home Science, proposed the vote of thanks. The event marked the conclusion of the World Breastfeeding Week 2026 observance, reinforcing the message of promoting breastfeeding as a cornerstone of child health and nutrition.
