Don Bosco College Panjim and St Xavier’s College Mapusa emerged men and women’s category champions at the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Badminton Championship 2026-2027 at SAG Indoor Stadium, Campal, held from 4th to 7th August, 2026.
In the women’s final, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated V. M Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar 2-1. Nysa Dhupdale defeated Rifa Shaikh 15-13, 15-6 in the first singles. Rucha Bhobe defeated Sanchita Shirodkar 15-4, 15-6 in the second singles. In the doubles, Nysa Dhupdale & Minoshka Pereira defeated Rifa Shaikh & Rucha Bhobe 15-7 & 15-6.
In a well-contested men’s final, Don Bosco College, Panjim defeated GovernmentCollege of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim 3-1. In the first singles, Soham Naik defeated Adarsh Gosavi 15-8, 15-5. In the second singles, Abhishek Swami defeated Prathamesh Thanekar 15-10, 13-15, 15-11. In the doubles, Abhishek Swami & Siddharth Hazra defeated Soham Naik & Ved Naik 14-16, 15-6, 15-10. In the third singles, Siddharth Hazra defeated Shubham Swami 15-12, 15-10.
Earlier, the men’s semi-finals saw Don Bosco College Panjim get the better of St. Xaviers College, Mapusa by 3-2; and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim blanked Goa College of Engineering 3-0.
In women’ semi-final, St. Xavier’s College defeated S.S. Dempo College 2-1, and V. M Salgaocar College of Law beat Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda 2-0.
The best players (men and women) of the championship was awarded to Abhishek Swami from Don Bosco College; and Nysa Dhupdale from St. Xavier’s College.
