Chandan Caro and Ishita Colaso emerged the star performers, completing triple crowns, while Neeza Kamat clinched the Women’s singles title at the YMCA All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, the finals of which were held on Sunday at Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Chandan won the Boys U15, U17 and Men’s titles, defeating Dhruva Kamat 3-0 and Rishan Shaikh 3-2 in the age-group finals before overcoming former State champion Diljeet Velingkar 4-2 in the Men’s final. Ishita completed her triple crown with victories in Girls U15, U17 and U19, defeating Tisha Shaikh 3-1, Sanisha Sinha 3-0 and Neeza Kamat 3-2 respectively. Neeza won the Women’s crown, defeating Anushri Naik 3-0.
Aarish Shaikh upset top seed Ashank Dalvi 3-1 in Boys U11, while Anaya Shukla defeated Shaurya Dessai 3-0 in Girls U11. Yuvaan Sanke beat Aryan Kanji 3-0 in Boys U13, while Tisha Shaikh upset top seed Sachi Dessai 3-0 in Girls U13. In Boys U19, Rishan Shaikh caused another upset, defeating top seed Chandan 3-1. The finals featured several closely fought encounters, including the U17 clash where Chandan edged Rishan 3-2 and the U19 Girls final where Ishita overcame Neeza 3-2. In the U9 finals, Arjun Rane defeated Yajat Keny 3-1 in Boys, while Claire George beat Swara Gude 3-0 in Girls.
Earlier in semis, Neeza caused a major upset by defeating top seed Ishita Colaso 3-2, while Anushri edged past Sanisha Sinha 3-2. In the Men’s semifinals, Chandan defeated Rishan Shaikh 4-0, while Diljeet overcame second seed Atharv Dhulapkar 4-2. Meanwhile, in the Girls Under 19 semifinals, Ishita defeated Sanisha 3-0, while Neeza edged past Gianna George 3-2 to reach the final.
Sanil Da Costa Frias, President – YMCA Panjim, YMCA Director – Clyde Lobo, YMCA Panjim Treasurer Errol Pires and Tournament coordinator – Alvito D’Silva, among others, graced the finals. The tournament was organised by YMCA Panjim in association with Goa Table Tennis Association and Sports Authority of Goa.
