PORVORIM: Khorlim XI proved too good for Porvorim Warriors as they registered an emphatic 74-run win in the second quarter-finals of the inaugural Manohar Parrikar Trophy T20 cricket tournament at GCA academy ground here today evening.
Aditya Kaushik of Khorlim XI was named man-of-the match for his superb knock of 73 runs off 50 balls. The Goa Ranji Trophy batsman dominated the proceedings after captain Saheel Dhuri had won the toss and elected to bat. Aditya stroked five boundaries and sixers each as Khorlim XI posted a total of 171/5. Rahul Keni (23), Ishan Gadekar (19) and Saheel Dhuri (16) made a contribution worth a note.
Porvorim youngster Prathamesh Naik bowled beautifully for his two wickets for just 20 runs off his four overs. Gauresh Gawas, Udit Yadav and Ruthvik Naik took one wicket each.
In reply, Swapnil Asnodkar-led Porvorim Warriors were all out for 97 runs 18.5 overs as their batsmen suffered a collective failure. Reagan Pinto top-scored with 23 runs to his credit, Ruthvik remained not out on 20 while Prathamesh contributed 14 runs. Khorlim’s Saheel, Amit Yadav and Maliksab Shirur took two wickets each while Rahul Keni, Heramb Parab and Rupesh Asgaonkar picked up a wicket each.
