PANAJI: A set goal implies focussed preparation in terms of physical and mental effort, but a decision taken in the midst of a routine takes highest level of adaptability as well as strength in order to achieve success. This is exactly what Frisco Pereira from Quepem, has exhibited as another cyclist from the Xaxti Riders club, makes his way into the Hall of Fame with successful Half-Everesting.

The Margao-based Frisco belted out an outstanding display as he scaled an elevation of 5372M in 18 hours and 16 minutes. Speaking to www.livenewsgoa.com, he revealed that his original plan was only to play a supporting role in Prince Colaco’s magnificent Everesting attempt at Chandreshwar parvat (hill).

“I went to support Prince. It was around 2 pm, and it was me and Prince alone till 6.30pm…(by) which time, l had completed 6 loops. It inspired me to do more loops and I completed 19 loops by the morning,” said Frisco.

“It was a great adventure to achieve this and l intend to complete the full Everesting,” added the delighted Frisco, who hailed Xaxti Riders president Sameer Nadkarni for his constant encouragement.

Frisco becomes only the third Goan to complete Half-Everesting and 144th Indian to achieve the feat.

Nadkarni highlighted Frisco’s effort, saying: “Frisco attempted Half-Everesting on sheer impulse and it was largely possible due to his determination and the fact that he is a very strong cyclist. He is a huge inspiration to the youngsters.”
