PANAJI: Dempo Group chairman Shrinivas Dempo hailed Goa’s sporting monument of an institution Panjim Gymkhana, for coming up with the innovative concept of Panjim Gymkhana Members League (PGML).
On the occasion of the PGML team Dempo Challengers’ jersey launch, Dempo emphasised that he embraced the idea of having a team in PGML as his family’s commitment to the welfare of Panaji.
Goa Cricket Association president Suraj Lotlikar, Panjim Gymkhana president Manoj Caculo and secretary Rajesh Khaunte; Vision Dempo MD Rajesh Dempo, HDFC Bank’s Ajit Dalvi were among the host of dignitaries in attendance at Dempo House here today.
Although PGML is a kind of a fun event, the coming together of Dempo, GCA and Panjim Gymkhana augurs well for the future promotion of competitive cricket with suggestions of a Dempo cricket academy, youth cricket league on the PGML lines and revival of erstwhile GPL model; being made on the occasion.
