PANAJI: Ex-Principal of V.M Salgaocar College of Law, Prof. Dr. M.R.K Prasad hopes that Lex Infinitum creates competent young lawyers with good ADR skills.
Dr. Prasad, is one of the expert assessors at the final round of Lex Infinitum 2022, and as Principal of V.M Salgaocar College of Law, he initiated Lex Infinitum in 2016. He taught courses in mediation and negotiation and was the coach/mentor for the teams that participated in international ADR Competitions at Hong Kong, Paris, and Vienna. He is invited to various law institutions to train faculty and students in ADR.
In his message, Dr. Prasad says: “Starting an International Mediation competition on the name of Lex Infinitum in V.M.Salgaocar College of Law, took a big leap in promoting and encouraging ADR culture in Goa. Little was known that Lex Infinitum became a brand for ADR competition in India internationally and immensely attracted the best teams, experts, and students from all over the world on one platform. I hope that Lex Infinitum will create competent young lawyers with good ADR skills.”
Dr. Prasad has an LL.M. from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA, and Ph.D. from Goa University. He is a Professor of Law and a leading expert in clinical legal education in India. He is the first recipient of the Vanderbilt-Fulbright Scholarship in Clinical Legal Education. His work in clinical legal education and legal aid is acclaimed and recognised both nationally and internationally. He has been at VMSCL since 1996. Over the course of his career, he has served as Chairman of Moot Court Society Legal Aid Society and was instrumental in establishing ADR Board in the College in 2006 and also as Principal. He served as a Professor of Law at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, for a year.
Dr. Prasad is a member of several international organisations such as Global Alliance for Justice Education, South Asian Forum of Clinical Law Teachers. He is a Former Member of Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. He has been the Chairman of Committee on Consultation and IPR, Goa University, 2012, Member of National Co-ordination Committee to conduct National Rounds of Brown and Mosten International Client Consultation Competition.
