PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen Spanish film Volver (2006) directed by Pedro Almodóvar, on Thursday, 31st March, at 6.30 pm, at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex.
The 2-hour duration film with English subtitles, stars Penélope Cruz in the lead role. Volver is an acclaimed film by one of the masters of world cinema, Pedro Almodóvar. The film won the Best Screenplay and Best Actress for the female ensemble cast. The story centres around a family of women and involves a few twists, turns, and joyful moments. Lavishing praise on Almodovar, critic Roger Ebert called him “a director who loves women — young, old, professional, amateur, mothers, daughters, granddaughters, dead, alive.”
