PANAJI: Dona Paula bay will come alive with colour and spray as Goa Yachting Association (GYA) hosts All-India Boardsailing Championships 2022 from 20th to 24th April, at the Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre. The National-Level Ranking Windsurfing event is YAI approved and is conducted with the support of Sports Authority of Goa (SAG).
It is also the third-leg of the Asian Games Qualifier in the RS:X category and will see Goa’s Dayne Coelho competing with Ebad Ali and Vedprakash Pathak of AYN to remain ahead in the race. All three of them put in splendid performances at the recently concluded Asian Sailing Championship in Abu Dhabi and have been training together in Goa for the last couple of weeks with other promising sailors like Ishwariya Ganesh, Katya Coelho, Manaswani Maharana and Pearl Colvalcar amongst many others.
The regatta, will see about 30 windsurfers from all over the country, from Mumbai, Orissa, Pune, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Chennai and host Goa, match their skills to test who is ‘Best in India’. For the first time in the country, we will have about 5 sailors on the windsurfing Foil. It will be indeed magical to watch them virtually fly in the air, states a press release.
An experienced jury for the event, comprises Col. Dikhit, Col. Kanwar and Capt. Jaiswal, Cdr. M. L. Sharma, Capt. Ankit. The Race Committee will comprise of Hav. Chandrashekar and Hav. Naveen Kumar and the Technical Committee will comprise of Cdr. M.L. Sharma and Russell Lobo.
