Akshaya Patra Foundation has launched their first kitchen in Goa and 78th kitchen in the country, in order to provide freshly-cooked, hygienic, and nutritious mid-day meals to school students.
On Monday, Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Centralised Mid-Day Meal Kitchen in Saligao, North Goa; in the presence of Saligao MLA Kedar Naik; Co-Founder & Vice-Chairman of Akshaya Patra Foundation, Chanchalapathi Dasa; Secretary for Education, Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, Collector North, Dr. Sneha Gitte, IAS, Director of Education Shailesh Zingade among others.
The Chief Minister stated on his social media handle, that the new initiative is in collaboration with SHGs. “Had the pleasure of joining students for their first meal under the Mid-Day Meal Program, now powered by the Centralized Kitchen of the Akshaya Patra Foundation in collaboration with Self-Help Groups in Goa.”
Dr Sawant added that the service will also be available in South Goa. “Government of Goa is proud to provide nutritious and well-balanced meals to school students through this initiative. I am also delighted to announce that this program will be extended to South Goa, ensuring that more children benefit from healthy and wholesome meals for their well-rounded growth,” emphasised the Chief Minister.
Akshaya Patra expressed gratitude on their social media, stating that the Foundation is immensely grateful to the Chief Minister for ‘unwavering support of the Government of Goa under his leadership has been pivotal for this project’.
