ANGLEY’S TABLE TENNIS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: HOTEL VIRASHREE, SHANTADURGA KNIGHT RIDERS, PEDDEM CHAMPS & GTTTC GLADIATORS STORM INTO QUARTERS

After a day of intense action at the Panjim Gymkhana Angley’s Table Tennis Team Championship, which featured 20 teams battling it out; Hotel Virashree, Shantadurga Knight Riders, Peddem Champs and GTTTC Gladiators topped their respective groups and set the stage for an exciting quarter-finals line-up. The group-toppers will face the runners-up from other groups in the next round. The runners-up teams advancing to the quarter-finals are Super Smashers, BPS Star Contenders, BPS Mavericks, and Mapusa Smashers.

The prestigious championship, organised by Panjim Gymkhana in collaboration with the Goa Table Tennis Association, follows a format inspired by the elite Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) championship of the TTFI.

The quarter-finals match-ups are as follows: Hotel Virashree vs. Mapusa Smashers; Shantadurga Knight Riders vs. BPS Mavericks; Peddem Champs vs. BPS Star Contenders and GTTTC Gladiators vs. Super Smashers

Notable performances of the day came from Ramkumar UN and Govindaraju Seetharam (Hotel Virashree), Nagesh Verenkar (Super Smashers), Rudra Ghosh and Munmun Kundu (Shantadurga Knight Riders), Pradnya Caro and Atharv Dhulakar (BPS Star Contenders), Rutuj Sonawane and Samaira Soares (Peddem Champs), Chandan Caro and Arvind Kumar (BPS Mavericks), Wesley Do Rosario and Aaron Farias (GTTTC Gladiators), and Prutha Parrikar and Jainam Shah who starred for their respective teams.

The concluding matches of the Angley’s Cup, annually held for close to 6 decades except for a few years hiatus, will be held on Sunday, June 9, at Panjim Gymkhana. “It was a fascinating opening day for fans of the game who got to watch several outstanding outstation players, including top national players such as Munmun Kundu and Rudra Ghosh, alongside Goan stars such as Wesley Do Rosario, Aaron Farias, and Arvind Kumar. Their remarkable skills have heightened the competitive spirit of the tournament. Table Tennis fans should not miss the chance to watch these exceptional talents in action”, stated Atish Angle of Angley’s Sports.
