Union Sports Minister, Anurag Singh Thakur says he is grateful to Goa for being ready to host the National Games. And continuing the positive mood, Goa’s Sports Minister Govind Gaude declared that the “wait is over for Goans” as far as hosting the National Games is concerned.

Gracing the final day of India’s first ever WTT Star Contender Goa 2023, Thakur stressed on the necessity of hosting National Games regularly. “National Games are of great importance for sportspersons and (thus) it’s very important for them to have regular Games and competitions and events, so that they can showcase their performances, showcase their calibre. And I am grateful that Goa is ready to host the National Games. The IOA team is already here to do inspections. They will file their report and after this grand success of the WTT, I am sure they (Goa) will be up and ready to host many in future,” he asserted.

Gaude gave an outline about the aim of Indian Olympic Association delegation’s visit and the next step in the journey towards meeting the demands of being the National Games hosts.

“The wait is over for Goans to host the 37th National Games in Goa…today, we had meetings with visiting IOA delegation on the inspection and administration planning point of view. And it will be a routine for three days before they prepare a report,” said the Sports Minister.

“The most important inspection will be held later this month by a technical team of every discipline. By the end of March, all the venues will be identified. Even if a venue is not up to the mark for the technical team, then Goa government has the capability to provide an alternate facility, as we have enough infrastructure to host the National Games,” informed Gaude.
