Birpratap Sharma (Epee), Kushal Das (Foil) and Abhishek Naik (Sabre) excelled in the men’s section while Sinikka Sapeco (Epee), Sayee Shirodkar (Foil) and Aarti Pail (Sabre) topped the respective events in the women’s section at the two-day all-Goa state fencing championship organised by the Goa Fencing Association at Taleigao.
Over 180 fencers took part in the championships, which comprised various age-group categories alongside the seniors competition. The top players will represent Goa at the upcoming Senior Nationals and will also be the probables for the National Games Goa 2023 to be hosted later this year.
The other medallists in the men’s Epee event are Rohan Bhandari (silver), Deepaksingh Rajput & Rohan Kamble (both bronze medallists); Foil – Arunkumar Saive (silver), Hitarth Mulewa & Aditya Mittal (Bronze medallists); Sabre – Om Ghantkar (silver), Dinesh Kamee & Sohil Farooqui (Bronze medallists).
In the women’s section, the other medallists are: Epee – Tamanna Warlikar (silver), Jennica Braganca & Harshita Marabe (bronze medallists); Foil – Maira Kohli (silver), Sanvi Prabhudesai & Nafisa Bono (bronze medalist); Sabre – Stuthi Sanil (silver), Mahek Shaikh & Riya Kamble (bronze medallists).
