Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant called on the women entrepreneurs to take maximum benefit of the Swayampurna Goa 2.0 initiative, which is driving women empowerment massively and celebrated the State Consumer Rights Day with a Packers Registration-cum-FSSAI licence camp at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhalim on Tuesday.
Goa, which consists around 4700 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), is witnessing a rising trend of women involved in manufacturing and procuring various products for sale. However, most of them have been unaware of the legal aspects as well as the product details or specification required to be displayed on the packaging for Consumers’ knowledge.
As such, SHG representatives from all over the state participated in the function today that reiterated ‘Jaago Grahak Jaago’ theme; organised by Department of Legal Metrology in collaboration with the DRDA, Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation, and Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration.
Dr Sawant, who unveiled the Logo and Citizen Charter brought out by the Department of Legal Metrology Goa, explained the importance of conducting business in with attention to details and bringing in innovative ideas rather than copying the success stories of others.
Meanwhile, the first copy of Goa Gram Magazine published by Department of Legal Metrology, and other books were also released at the hands of the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also presented Packers Registration Certificates and FSSAI licences for the members of Self Help Groups. Secretary, Legal Metrology, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Controller, Legal Metrology, Arun Panchwadkar, Director Planning & Statistics, Vijay B. Saxena, Director Department of Rural Development, Gopal Parsekar, Project Director, DRDA, South Goa, Deepali Naik, Designated Officer, FDA, Sanjyot Kudalkar, Chairperson, Sankhali Municipal Council, Rashmi Desai, Zilla Panchayat Member, Gopal Surlkar & others attended the celebration.
