CINEPHILE FILM CLUB: SATYAJIT RAY’S MASTERPIECE ‘PRATIDWANDI’ ON THURSDAY, DHRITIMAN CHATERJI TO ATTEND

PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen Satyajit Ray’s masterpiece, ‘Pratidwandi’ (The Adversary); on Thursday (15th September) at Maquinez Palace here at 6.30 pm.

The screening will be attended by the renowned actor Dhritiman Chaterji, who plays the lead role.

With a career spanning over five decades, Dhritiman worked with Ray in three films along with masters, like Mrinal Sen and other contemporary film-makers.

Based on a novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay, ‘Pratidwandi’ was the first of Ray’s Calcutta trilogy. The film also marked the debut of Dhritiman Chaterji, who plays the role of a young man looking for a job and gets disillusioned with the world. Pratidwandi won 3 National awards, including Best Director, and Best Screenplay and the story holds relevance even today.
