CLEANING DRIVE, CULTURAL PROGRAMMES, AWARENESS SESSIONS MARK NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS

Central Bureau of Communication, Goa, organised various programmes in the state as part of the National Youth Day celebrations. Cleaning drives, awareness sessions and a bouquet of competitions for school students were held. Government of India observes January 12 every year as National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

As a curtain-raiser to the celebrations, a massive cleaning drive was conducted, 12th January at Miramar Beach, in association with 1 Goa Batallion NCC Panaji. The event witnessed the participation of over 100 volunteers. Over 250 kilograms of plastic waste was collected during the drive. The day also saw cultural performances by artists of CBC Goa at Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir, Margao.

At another event held today at Anjuman Nurul Islam High School, Bambolim, Nikita Gupta of Goa Livelihoods Forum led an awareness session. Eminent student counsellor and trainer Ameena Bukhari was the chief guest. Addressing the students, Ameena called for imbibing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda into their lives. “You need to start from your own daily life, working on your daily tasks. That is how you reach your goal,” she said.

Several competitions such as portrait-drawing, poster-making, essay-writing, and slogan-writing were conducted for the students as part of the celebrations. The winners were given prizes at the event.
