DBCE GOA’S ‘TECHNIX 2021’ PROVIDES PLATFORM FOR INNOVATIVE NATIONAL-LEVEL PROJECTS

PANAJI: Technix 2021, a National-Level Project Competition, organised by Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE)-Goa; drew overwhelming response with entries from the domains of Robotics, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Communication Engineering, 3D printing, Automation, and Mechatronics.

Fatorda-based DBCE, managed by Fatorda Salesian Society – a part of the world-wide society of Don Bosco; is completing 10 years of excellence in technical education and as a part of this celebration, ‘Technix 2021‘ was hosted by the Final Year Project Quality Assurance Committee, Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (ETC) in association with IEEE Student Branch.

Technix 2021, which commenced in July with the submissions of abstract proposals,   received an overwhelming response of around 130 participants. The project competition had two categories, namely Hardware and Software.

The first place in the Hardware category was bagged by Vivek Khadilkar, Drasti Naik, and Saeel Kamat – ETC Dept., DBCE, for their project titled ‘Sanitizing Robot’. The second place went to Gavin Fernandes, Balkrishna Raut Desai, Pranav Naik, and Rishita Singh – Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Goa for their project titled ‘Wireless Electronic Stethoscope’. The third place was won by Aloysius Amaral, Allan Chris Luis, and Balesh Mayekar- Mechanical Engg. Dept.- DBCE, for their project titled ‘Design and Fabrication of Robotic mechanism to clean fuel tanks of ships’. The first place in the Software category was bagged by Sapana Kambli, Lata Pawar, Joel Fernandes- ETC Dept, DBCE, for their project titled ‘Innovative Medium of Learning Using Augmented Reality’. The second place was won by Abhishek Dhumvad, Saurabh Prabhu, and Stanford Da Silva- ETC Dept, DBCE for their project titled ‘Water Pollution Monitoring and Decision Support System’. The third place went to Rujuta Vaidya, Neha Vishwakarma, and Makarand Bhalerao- Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai for their project titled ‘Shallow Cloud Classification Using Transfer Learning’.

The judges for Technix 2021 were Dr. Saurabh Mehta – Chief Academic Officer at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Secretary, IEEE Bombay Section (BS); Dr. R.N. Patel, Associate Professor, NIT Raipur and Chair, IEEE BS – Technical and Professional Activities Committee (TPAC); Hannan Satopay – Chief Executive Officer, Alhansat Technologies and Secretary, IEEE BS TPAC.

The valedictory function was graced by the Director-DBCE, Rev Fr. Kinley D’Cruz; Principal-DBCE, Dr. Neena Panandikar; CEO of FiiRE, D. S. Prashant and HOD of ETC Department, Dr. Varsha Turkar. The event was co-ordinated by Asst. Prof. Anisha Cotta, Asst. Prof. Yeshudas Muttu and Asst. Prof. Priyanka Padiyar.

Project competition ‘Technix’ has been organised since 2016 by ETC Department,  with the primary aim to encourage budding engineers to exhibit their novel ideas and innovative projects, states a communique by DBCE.
