DISHTAVO: REDEFINING THE WAY STUDENTS LEARN

0

An initiative by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa; ‘DISHTAVO’ offers reliable, accessible, and comprehensive academic e-content aligned with NEP 2020 guidelines. This free of cost service is redefining the way, students learn. DISHTAVO has also been recognised as a best practice by the Home and Education Ministry, Government of India.

A ‘System for Holistic Teaching and Virtual Orientations’ (DISHTAVO) is comprehensive and holistic as it addresses different programs of study such as; BA, B.Sc etc under the Goa University, Goa at the Under-Graduate level.

The four quadrant format as followed by various well known e-content providers across the world is adopted in the DISHTAVO project to widen the learning experience of the learner. A central repository developed exclusively for DISHTAVO is the main platform for learner-content interaction. However, the learner may also access material indexed on YouTube through the organised playlist that is created.

The content preparation is done in a phased manner beginning with Unit 1 & Unit II of every paper of the odd semesters in the first phase . Similarly, in the second phase, the aim is to start with even semester and complete the remaining units subsequently.

The project aims to create a repository of e-content as per the prescribed syllabus. The main motive is to provide it to students in both online mode through the internet access as well as offline mode by keeping a copy of the same at the college level where students can request the required lectures and copy them on pendrive and take them home.

The highlight of this project is that it is developed completely in-house with the technical team constituted by pulling in all the required expertise from various colleges, DHE and Goa University that includes faculty, students, lab assistants, system administrators, Multi Tasking Staff etc. Around 1200+ faculty from different disciplines have already contributed to the first phase of the project by recording their sessions at the makeshift studios, the DDLI studio and the Chowgule studio set up at Goa University.
