Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen award-winning documentary film ‘Ek Tha Gaon’ at Maquinez Palace, Panaji, on Friday (1st September) at 6.30 p.m.
The one-hour documentary won the Best Non-Feature Film at the 69th National Awards recently.
The screening will be attended by the director, Srishti Lakhera, followed by a Q&A.
‘Ek Tha Gaon’ (Once Upon a Village) is Srishti’s debut feature documentary that has traveled to more than a dozen festivals around the world and in India, and has won several awards.
The film is set in a village in the Himalayan foothills which is now abandoned because of migration – once, there were around 50 families there. With just a handful of people left, one person who refuses to leave is Leela Devi, a feisty 81-year-old lady who lends so much charm to the film, stated a press release.
