In a significant development for Goa’s growing healthcare and innovation ecosystem, Goa-headquartered Molbio Diagnostics’ initial public offering received a strong response from investors, with the issue subscribed 70.26 times as per Stock Exchange data at 5.30pm on August 12.
Molbio’s public issue sized at Rs 658 crore (minus anchor portion) garnered subscription of over Rs 46,200 crore. The QIB (institutional investors) portion was subscribed 186x (times) while the HNI portion was subscribed almost 50x (at upper end of Price band).
Retail investors portion was subscribed nearly 13x while Employee portion was
subscribed over 13x (at upper end of Price Band). The total number of applications were around 26.9 lakh.
The IPO received bids for approximately 57.32 crore shares against 81.58 lakh shares on offer, reflecting substantial investor interest in the diagnostics company.
The development also carries significance for Goa’s industrial ecosystem. Of the fresh
issue proceeds, Molbio proposes to deploy ₹80.8 crore towards purchasing plant, machinery and other equipment for its Goa Unit I, Goa Unit II and Visakhapatnam facility, alongside investments towards strengthening its R&D capabilities.
Ahead of the public issue, Molbio had also raised ₹281.45 crore from 33 anchor investors, further underscoring institutional interest in the Goa-grown diagnostics company.
The strong IPO response puts the spotlight on Goa’s potential to produce healthcare and technology enterprises capable of scaling from local roots to national and global markets.
