GOA BOYS & GIRLS ENTER QUARTER-FINALS OF SGFI NATIONAL SCHOOL GAMES BEACH VOLLEYBALL AT MIRAMAR

Goa boys and girls have progressed into the last-eight stage of the SGFI 69th National School Games Beach Volleyball Championship 2026 organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Miramar Beach. The hosts’ boys team will take on CBSE WSO while the girls duo clash with Punjab simultaneously at 4.45pm today.

Goa boys – Narendra Gaonkar and Vedant Kavlekar, had ensured the Quarters berth last night itself as they beat Andhra Pradesh after clinching the opener against Puducherry to open the tournament in style on Tuesday morning.

Coach Surya Sawant expressed satisfaction at their performance as he revealed that the 25 days residential camp had ensured that the boys were well prepared for the challenge.

Over in the girls section, Deepali Gawas and Roshni Gaonkar gave their best but could not prevent Tamil Nadu from winning the match with ease today morning.

Goa girls, who are coached by Milagrina Mascarenhas,  had opened their campaign yesterday evening with a relatively comfortable win against Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant graced the inaugural ceremony on Tuesday evening. Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Secretary for Sports Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs Dr Ajay Gaude were also present.
