GOA CLINCH 3 BRONZE MEDALS AT YOGA NATIONALS IN HIMACHAL

Goa bagged three bronze medals at the 49th Sub-Junior & Junior National Yoga Sports Championship held from 24th to 27th October, 2024 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Una Himachal Pradesh.

The team deputed by Goa Yoga Association was coached by Damodar Govenkar and Ashwini Churi, senior national medallist under the guidance of Navin Acharya, former Assistant Director of Sports. Hema Keni, secretary of GYA, was the team manager.

All together 678 yoga players (312 men & 366 women) from various states participated in the five age-groups of Junior Yoga and two age groups of professional yogasana competition (females). 240 yoga competitors exhibited their performances in Artistic Solo Yoga, Artistic Pair Yoga, Rhythmic Yoga & Free Flow Yoga Sports Competition, according to a press release.

West Bengal state yoga team won the overall Championship, followed by Haryana as the overall runners-up. Maharashtra emerged as the second overall runners-up.

Goa players gave a good account of themselves in a formidable field. Here is how they finished:

Bronze Medal for Master T.K. Meghnath

3.Artistic solo sub–Jr Boys
   6th place Om Damodar Govenkar

   6th Place Aaradhya Naik

5.Artistic Pair Sub Jr/Jr Boys

   4th place T.K Meghnath &  Yashwant Madar

6.Rhythmic Pair Sub Jr/Jr Boys
   5th place  Om Damodar Govenkar &  Master Tejas Tandel

7.Rhythmic pair sub Jr/ Jr Girls
   4th place Kathyayani Honawarkar & Tusu Manna

8.Free Flow Yoga sub Jr/ Jr 5 Boys & Girls 5th place
   Om Damodar Govenkar, Aaradhya Naik , Tusu Manna,    Kathyayani Honawarkar, Kirti Itagi.

MP Anurag Thakur was the Chief Guest of the valedictory function. He appreciated the artistic yoga performances demonstrated by the yoga players of Goa among others.

President of Asin Yoga Federation, Ashok Kumar Aggarwal the President of Yoga federation of India, Indu Aggarwal, President of Himachal Yoga Association, Acharya Mahendra Kumar, secretary Raman Sharma, were also present.
