In a significant step towards promoting adventure sports, healthy living, and recreational opportunities within the city, Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has launched The Smart City Climbing Wall, a modern climbing facility developed in partnership with Adventure Breaks, Goa’s pioneering climbing and outdoor adventure organisation.
Designed to cater to individuals of all age groups and skill levels, the facility offers an exciting and safe environment where both beginners and experienced climbers can challenge themselves while building physical and mental strength.
Eduardo J. Pereira, Chief General Manager, IPSCDL, stated: “The launch of the Smart City Climbing Wall marks the addition of a dedicated climbing facility within the public realm infrastructure developed by IPSCDL. The facility has been created to provide residents and visitors with access to a structured space for climbing, recreation, and physical activity. The facility is expected to contribute to greater awareness and participation in the sport. Through such initiatives, IPSCDL continues to support the development of public spaces that accommodate a range of recreational and community-oriented activities.”
Equipped with state-of-the-art climbing infrastructure, internationally compliant safety systems, and qualified climbing coaches, this space aims to make the sport of climbing more accessible to the people of Goa. The facility provides a unique platform for recreation, fitness, and skill development while fostering a spirit of adventure among participants.
Climbing is one of the fastest-growing sports globally and has gained international recognition as an Olympic sport. Beyond its recreational appeal, climbing is known to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, focus, confidence, and problem-solving abilities.
Adventure Breaks, the operational partner for the facility, has been at the forefront of promoting climbing in Goa for over 12 years, conducting regular climbing programs in schools and outdoor locations across the state and introducing thousands of young people to the sport.
Initially, the Smart City Climbing Wall will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The facility will also be available for student groups, educational institutions, corporate team-building sessions, and birthday parties through prior bookings.
This launch further reinforces Panaji Smart City’s vision of developing modern urban infrastructure that not only improves city living but also encourages community engagement, wellness, and youth participation in emerging sports.
