Dr Sawant expressed optimism about the scheme, emphasising its potential to enhance industrial efficiency and economic development in Goa. He stated that “the “Exit Support Scheme” aims to streamline the process for non-functional units to exit the industrial estates, thereby making way for new and functional industrial ventures that can contribute to the economic growth of the state. “This scheme is expected to rejuvenate the industrial landscape in Goa, ensuring better utilisation of resources and infrastructure and create more jobs in state”.
Minister for Industries, Mauvin Godinho, stated that the “Exit Support Scheme” is a crucial step towards revitalising Goa’s industrial estates. He emphasised, “The “Goa-IDC Exit Support Scheme, operational for one year, will encompass over 12 lakh square meters of unused industrial land. This initiative aims to facilitate the utilization of this land by prospective entrepreneurs, ensuring that it serves its intended purpose of fostering industrial growth and development in the state of Goa”.
Under the Exit Support Scheme, lessees who have obtained plots on or before August 1, 2014; are exempt from the requirement to utilise at least 30 per cent of the plot area as built-up space. Additionally, transferees acquiring leasehold rights over plots with non-functional industrial units will benefit from a waiver of the first year’s lease rent. To further streamline the transfer process, Goa-IDC, in collaboration with the Goa Investment Promotion Board and industry bodies, will organise Transferor-Transferee meetings to facilitate direct interactions and negotiations. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency and efficiency, fostering a more dynamic industrial environment in Goa.
In order to simply the availability of plots, Goa-IDC has classified the unutilised plots into four categories: plots with no construction, plots with partial construction, plot where construction is complete but not operational and industrial units that have ceased operations.
